Easy Separation

Dr. Lynn Miller teamed up with AnxietyBC to create a short animated video on how to reduce anxiety for Kindergarteners during the first days of school. Watch it here.

Anxiety Disorders in Children

Anxiety disorders in children refer to developmentally appropriate fear in excessive amounts that leads to avoidance in children or dysfunction. For example, young children may be hesitant to leave caregivers to go to school, but in excessive levels, this fear of separation may cause children significant distress, leading to avoidance of going to school (not attending school, or attending school with much crying).

Anxiety Facts

Parents and teachers frequently do see a child’s anxiety, but may misunderstand how great the fear is because children may not be able to clearly describe their concerns.
